Why Private Funding Matters More Than Ever

Hi Reader,

If your organization has relied heavily on federal grants, you’ve probably noticed how unpredictable they’ve become over the past few weeks. Grants and contracts have been frozen, unfrozen, and refrozen, throwing many recipients into a terrified frenzy about what will happen if their funding goes away.

While we still don't know how this will play out, with challenges proceeding through the court system, we do know one thing. Federal funding may not be as reliable as it once was, which will have cascading effects throughout the nonprofit ecosystem.

That’s why now is the time to take a more intentional approach to researching and applying for private funding sources.

Private foundations (family, community, corporate, and other funders) will need to step up and fill the void, and the competition for their dollars will be even more stiff.

Private funders are likely to become even more focused in their giving priorities, which means a broad, scattershot approach won’t cut it. Instead, focusing on funders whose missions align with your work will increase your chances of success and help build long-term, sustainable partnerships.

If you’re ready to diversify your funding strategy and find the right private funders for your organization, grab my free guide, 5 Free Ways to Search for Funders!

This resource will help you uncover funding opportunities without spending a dime.

Let’s make sure you have the tools to secure funding—even in uncertain times. If you have questions about how your nonprofit can respond to the loss of federal funding, shoot me and email and I'll help brainstorm next steps.

Nonprofit Grant Magic

Hi, I’m Tracy! I’m an entrepreneur and grantwriter who teaches nonprofit professionals and aspiring grantwriters to gain the skills and knowledge to feel confident writing grant proposals or launching a brand new career as a grantwriter. I’m a nonprofit communicator, fundraiser, and small business owner. When I’m not hanging out with my family and my Bernedoodle, I’m gardening, watering my 40+ plants, playing pickleball, or making a home-cooked dinner. But my first passion is to raise money for the nonprofits that I work for and care so much about. And after 20 years of grantwriting, I’m now dedicated to teaching more people to write grants because the demand for our work is greater than ever—and really important organizations need us.
