If you've been a newsletter subscriber for a while, you know we are passionate about training grantwriters.

In 2022, after years of providing grantwriting services to amazing nonprofits, I decided to shift my business to add grantwriter training courses and services. I transitioned from being primarily a grantwriter to focusing on training the next generation of grantwriters. This decision didn’t come lightly (and has made me busier than ever!), but it’s something I believe is essential for the future of the nonprofit sector—and I’m excited to share why.

The Demand is Overwhelming

Simply put, there’s too much demand for grantwriting services and not enough grantwriters to meet it. Nonprofits are doing incredible work, but they’re struggling to find the grantwriting support they need to secure the funding that fuels their missions. I’ve seen it firsthand: organizations across the country, from grassroots groups to larger institutions, are desperate for skilled grantwriters who can help them thrive.

Right now, there aren’t enough of us to go around. The truth is, one person can only write so many proposals, and as much as I love working directly with nonprofits, I know I can make a bigger impact by helping to train more grantwriters. By shifting my focus to training, I can support dozens of new grantwriters who will bring their skills to the organizations that need them most.

Representation Matters in Grantwriting

Another driving force behind this shift is the urgent need for grantwriters who represent their communities. Too often, the people writing grant proposals do not reflect the communities they are writing about. This disconnect can lead to proposals that don’t capture the true essence, needs, and strengths of those communities. When grantwriters come from the communities they’re writing about, they bring a depth of understanding and authenticity that can make all the difference in securing funding.

We need grantwriters who understand the lived experiences of the people and causes they are advocating for. We need grantwriters who can tell their communities’ stories from the inside, with passion and precision. I hope to train a new wave of grantwriters who represent diverse backgrounds and perspectives, bringing much-needed voices to the field.

Join Me on This Journey

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a grantwriter, there’s never been a better time. The field needs you—your voice, your perspective, and your commitment to making the world a better place. I’m excited to equip more people with the skills they need to step into this meaningful, impactful work.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me, and I can’t wait to see what we build together.

Have a great week!

Tracy

Nonprofit Grant Magic

Hi, I’m Tracy! I’m an entrepreneur and grantwriter who teaches nonprofit professionals and aspiring grantwriters to gain the skills and knowledge to feel confident writing grant proposals or launching a brand new career as a grantwriter. I’m a nonprofit communicator, fundraiser, and small business owner. When I’m not hanging out with my family and my Bernedoodle, I’m gardening, watering my 40+ plants, playing pickleball, or making a home-cooked dinner. But my first passion is to raise money for the nonprofits that I work for and care so much about. And after 20 years of grantwriting, I’m now dedicated to teaching more people to write grants because the demand for our work is greater than ever—and really important organizations need us.
